I just keep getting sucked into this book and being amazed at how much this stuff is still so relevant even though he wrote it back in the early twenties.  Its amazing!!!

Victoria's Secret Angel (not what you would think)

I encountered an angel at Victoria's Secret today.  She wasn't a model, she was a sales associate.  I had a coupon with the bar code ripped off of the back from the mail carelessly being opened, and I asked before I went looking for the item if I would be able to use the coupon.  One associate wasn't sure so she asked the Angel who held it up, looked at it , shook her head no, tried to read the coupon number and couldn't and continued looking at it shaking her head so I was finally like oh so I can't use it... and started to walk away when the angel spoke up and stopped me.  She said "Miss look you never know until you try, take it to the register and try it" I took her advice and went and found my little cute hip hugger took the torn coupon to the register and sure enough the Angel was right.  The cashier commented on it being torn but still let me use it :D so I got my little hip hugger free and bounced out of the store.  I didn't see the Angel as I was leaving to thank her, but I am thankful.  What she said to me was so simple but it spoke volumes and I will happily apply it to every part of my life not just when trying to use a coupon.

This encounter had such an impression on me. I feel so uplifted and inspired.  I will remember the words of this Angel forever.  Its the small things.  You never know the impact of the stuff you say to other people.  *food for thought*

Wow, well thank you Angel! for contacting me and giving me that push in the right direction. :)

Girls are like trees

Girls are like
apples on trees. The best
ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don't want to reach for
the good ones because they are afraid
of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they
just get the rotten apples from the ground
that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples
at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they're amazing.
They just have to wait for the right
boy to come along, the one
who's brave enough
to climb
all the way
to the top
of the tree.

Bizarre People and Why

I love connecting with bizarre people, because most of the time bizarre behavior is the mark of a genius.  It's a sign that the bizarre person has a unique thought pattern and probably valuable observations of their environment.  Curious bizarre people in particular are intriguing because that means that they detect something they can learn from me, which is flattering.  This is also an opportunity to learn and become better, to absorb that experience with that bizarre individual will give me an advantage somewhere later on.

The difficulty that comes with this enriching opportunity is trying suppress the bad attitude or agitation that their unconventional behavior evokes.

When you have a bad attitude you always lose out, even when the other person you are dealing with doesn't notice it you still miss an opportunity to gain knowledge because you can't soak up the little details while your steaming and busy being insulted or feeling attacked.

*No ego mantra mode*

Paying attention to questions is difficult.  Answering exactly and specifically only the question that is being asked at present without allowing any assumptions or prejudice to work its way into your answer is difficult.

The solution is to stop trying to anticipate or guess why this person wants to know that piece of information.  Trying to follow someone else's imaginary chain of discovery while simultaneously answering a question on the spot with no time to gather your thoughts is/ would be an extraordinary feat.  The average person cannot process and divulge information from so many different angles at once.

The issue with this then becomes...how do you blankly answer questions?  Aren't we all supposed to think before we speak?  Suppose it's in your best interest to restrict certain information, or present it in a better form.  How can you be aware of self preservation, ward off possible trouble, protect your image while honestly, quickly, and efficiently answering questions?  Especially questions that you were not expecting, and cannot immediately figure a motive for?

I guess that's why the best and most annoying answer to any question is "why?"
